I once thought it was my anxiety and the big plans that have placed me in a position of expectancy for the new year(2008). However, browsing through some websites and asking for opinions from different people around the world and through discussion with friends, I have found out that a good percentage of up right people are expecting much from the year 2008. In fact most people in the religious arena have talk of it being a year of "New Beginning" , perhaps a prophecy.
True there is new beginning, everyone knows that and I think every year begins with a new year and therefore a new beginning!
Now, what is the New Beginning all about ? what came into the minds of people to label this year (2008) a year of "New Beginning"? Is it a routine? Is it because they had upsets in the year 2007? or Have they been promised a new thing? There are many more questions to ask, but to me the answer remains - Yes, No or do not know. It is better if assess for my self and you my dear reader find out the reasons, perhaps, you can also go ahead find out why.
I must confess that 2007 has been a wonderful year to many. For example, this very year many discoveries have been made in science, history, religion, etc. Many treaties and agreements have been reached to, efforts have been put towards peace talks in Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Sudan, Eritrea, DR. Congo, Israel, Lebanon, and in my nation - Uganda. Look at the recent efforts towards climate change and trade agreement between Africa and Europe. World wide, much efforts have put towards achieving the targets of MDGs (Millenium Development Goals) of 2015 than ever before and more is expected. In Uganda, all sectors have seen a 'face-lift' this year from politics to tourism, to sports to mention them. Uganda also hosted a magnificent CHOGM - a meeting for heads of states of commonwealth countries that has seen the Queen of England visit the Nation. I am just highlighting only a few of the marvelous things that have happened in 2007, the list can go on and on including the onces in your own country. However, this does not mean that bad things did not happen, the fact is, there were many but the good things appear to overshadow them all.
Personally, I have achieved much this year 2007. I have become a mature person than I was last year, fully committed in many things. One of the achievements I have attained this year was the completion of the two years of study that would lead to the award of Masters degree in Crop Science (Plant Virology and Biotechnology) added to leadership modeling thereof. The truth is, most of the things I planned earlier this have been achieved. These have placed me at the position of thinking that next year (2008) would far different.
Then question still remains:
Why are we so expectant of the year 2008 to the extend of calling it a year of "New Beginnings"?????
Personally, I concur with those who believe it as a prophecy, because I feel quite different. Most biblical prophecies have in the past place many of the time in positions which you and I are feeling today. So it is not a mistake that we are felling that way. It is not emotion, not anxiety, not expectation, not anything, but the Spirit of God testifying to our spirits and creating all the feelings that we are feeling. The feelings are God-driven, God's Spirit is on rampage to fulfilling and beginning something. I believe He has many things He would like to accomplish and start in my personal life and the lives of many. It is those who are sensitive and quickly respond accordingly who will find themselves far ahead of others. Therefore, watch out!!!!! It is not a threat. I have prepared and still preparing for the year 2008 spiritually, socially, economically etc. What are you waiting for my dear, be expectant and move with the rest.
